Frequent Questions:

When and where will the meeting take place?

Thursday, October 14, 2010, from 7 to 9 pm, Northside Baptist Church, Charlotte. See "Directions/Locations" to the left.

What is the purpose of the meeting?

This is a strategy session focused on one key question: How can apologetics ministries reach the local church and discipleship ministries more effectively? The emphasis will be on listening to pastors and local ministry leaders—the real experts on what it takes to be effective in a local setting.

Who is invited?

Pastors, apologists, worldview ministry leaders, and other thinkers who have the ability to contribute to a strategic dialogue on apologetics, church, culture, and strategy. This session is free to all invited guests.

May I come if I have not received a personal invitation?

We cannot reach every qualified potential participant with an invitation. If you are, or if you know of, a pastor or other leader who could contribute significantly, please contact us for an invitation. We ask for an RSVP from every person who will attend (see below).

Who will be leading the session?

  • Dr. Alex McFarland, President of Southern Evangelical Seminary, host of the annual National Conference on Christian Apologetics, frequent conference and church speaker, and author
  • Tom Gilson, Director of Strategic Processes (Operational Advisory Services), Campus Crusade for Christ; host of the Thinking Christian blog and author of more than fifty articles on faith, science, culture, and strategy

What do we hope to accomplish in two hours?

  • Pray
  • Build a network of strategic thinkers on this topic
  • Discuss primary points of challenge and opportunity
  • Begin creating a unified vision for using apologetics and scholarship more effectively to impact our culture
  • Plan for follow-through: future meetings and communication

How does this tie in to the National Apologetics Conference?

We want to serve you, the local ministry leader, by giving you complimentary admission to the entire conference (a $99 value), including a free luncheon on Friday. We're asking three things of you in return:

  1. Attend the Thursday evening session, and
  2. Commit to attending the entire two days of the conference, including the Friday lunch and the Saturday evening debate, and
  3. Commit to promoting the conference in your church or among your local ministry (see the "Promotional Materials" link to the left).

How do I RSVP?

Use the online RSVP form.

What lodging arrangements are available?

See the "Hotels" link to the left. Note that each person is responsible for his or her own travel, lodging, meals, etc.
